Icon2 radiator fan not working

the fan motor is good.
the relay is good.
fuses are good.
tried to use a paperclip in the ect sensor and that didn't turn the fan on.

how do I test the electrical clipped thing between the motor and the relay? (by the coolant overflow tank)

or, maybe it's the wiring going to the relay, or from it???

should the radiator fan turn on automatically if the a/c or heater is on? or just after the antifreeze is hot? How hot? I've run the car for 10 minutes it still doesn't come on, and heater is HOT.

also, there is no thermostat... how do I know if the antifreeze is circulating or not? It just looks like it's vibrating.

trying to buy thermostat... oreiley's says the base is round. on hondapartscheap.com it looks oblong. which is correct???

thx
95 honda civic, with a 96 honda civic engine.

10 minutes is surely not enough from cold especially since you are not running a thermostat, expect it to take 25 minutes to come on, even longer if you are running the heater in the process

http://www.hondapartscheap.com/auto-...hermostat-scat

on this diagram, I used a paper clip in # 13, fan didn't turn on, so I tried # 12... still didn't turn on.

the reason I think the relay is good is because if I put the fan relay in the blower relay slot, the blower still works. However, the two relays have different numbers on them, so it's possible that they're made differently inside??? I think that's unlikely though.

I took out the radiator today, flushed it & cleaned the gunk off the outside, re-installed and flushed through the engine. Checked a thermostat, it works, installed it.

Yes, ac always overrides fans. Install a tstat, check coolant level because low coolant won't touch temp switch, replace coolant fan switch.

So, when I turn on the ac, should BOTH fans turn on, or just the fan by the compressor???

Both always run simultaneously when the ignition is on and/or engine is running.

no they dont manny. Only if your fan relay is hardgrounded and always running.

one fan is radiator, one is ac condenser. They both cycle. one with temp, one when AC calls. I forgot you have a civic and not a huge wide radiator like my cars.

Well, after driving car for 25 minutes, I opened the hood and expected to see the radiator fan running, but it wasn't. wait, wait, wait... after five more minutes the radiator fan finally came on... for about 5 seconds. Then went off again. So I guess the 95 Civic just doesn't need the fan very much.
I never could get a paperclip in any sensor to turn on the fan even though the fan does work.
