Default rack and pinion replacement

my 99 civic just got its R&P replaced at a shop. The shop used a rebuilt/remanufactured R&P, the ends of the dust boots are held by ring clips. Tonight when adjusting my coilovers, I seen the rings were coming off slightly so I grabbed a pair or needle nose pliers and tighten them back on. If this happens again, will tie straps be good enough? and how tight does it have to be? and where exactly does the boot sit when I do this?

set it back to where it was originally, and you can buy those adjustable hose clamps, there good and wont come off. You can find em at any local parts store. don't over tighten them since its going on over the boot, but make sure its a nice firm tight fit.

I wouldn't use those tie straps for this, in your situation.

If you're talking about the bellows boots covering the inner tie rods, you can use zip ties without issue. A lot of shops use them instead of clamps, and I use them too.

If it is #8 your talking about... http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...=P.S.+GEAR+BOX use hose clamps, or HD wire ties, but hose clamps work best. 94
