rack and pinion problems
well, i found out why the wheel is pitching, the tie bar (that steers the car) on the right is bent at the joint that connects the inner and outter, and it looks like the left might be slightly bent. Question is, how can you find out if the rack is still in good shape without having to remove it? This is a $500 piece, so if I dont need it, (tie bars are only $80 a side for the inner and outter) im not buying it
I just replaced the rack in my 93 Civic, was $50 from local Honda Junkyard.
I snapped the end off a tie-rod when looking for problems and both boots were ripped. $90 in parts for the 2 tie-rods + dust boots.
Just need to gat a alignment tomorrow and I'm done.
BTW my car had 150,000 miles plus 3 frontal incidents.
