quick valve lash Q
Can't seem to get a solid answer.
When you lash valves does it matter whether you put your feeler between the valve and the rocker or rocker and cam.
It seems doin it on the cam would be more accurate because the valve stem would wear a little dip in the rocker and that would throw off the measurement making all your valves loose.
Does anyone know what i am talking about?
TIA

I have always done it on the cam. I believe that's what it says in the Service Manual as well.
any tips on getting that damn blade in there?
On B-series motors, I put the feeler guage between the cam and rocker. On D and F series motors, between the valve and rocker arm. It depends on the design of the cylinder head, as to where to put the feeler guage.
It all depends on the clearance that's published. In principle you can measure it either place, but the actual clearance will be different. When you read the spec. clearance, you have to know which location they mean.
If its difficult to get a feeler gauge on the valve stem, then they publish the clearance at the cam lobe. Read the procedure in your shop manual, not just the clearance numbers.

Put the feeler guage between the cam and rocker on H-series also.
