Default quick timing-retard question

if i have to retard my timing with the addition of a supercharger, is this done by rotating the distributor cap or getting adjustable cam gears?

thanks

rotating the distributor cap will accomplish your needed timing retard but it will be a constant timing retard no matter what boost you are running. adjustable cam gears will control you valve overlap, etc. not timing.

if you want to retard you timing in relationship to your boost you want to look into a MSD BTM spark control box. This will allow you to retard timing with relationship to boost. Accel also has a unit for Honda/Acura applications but I have not used/installed it yet.

By adjusting your cam gear (for intake if DOHC) your timing will change. Your cam controls the distributor.
