quick question " engine installers"
So im putting my motor back in my car finally. What can i have installed on the motor prior to putting it in the car??? and what mounts need to be on the motor and what mounts need to be in the car im just trying to make this as simple as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
First poster-I find it easier to have the side mounts already on the motor when dropping it in so they can go right into place although the tranny mount can be hard to slide in. Leave the rear mount bolted to the car. Take the torque mounts completely off and put those on once the engine is in. As for everything else, the only things that aren't hooke up are coolant, vacuum, and fuel lines. If you took it out it should be pretty easy to put back in.
Peter336-You can either convert the car to obd1 in which case you'll need a full or semi complete harness or you need an MPFI obd0 harness and you'll wire vtec seperately. Check out http://www.rywire.com, they have a lot of harness swaps and help.

You going in through the bottom or the top?
Bottom:
You can have everything bolted on to it, belts, hoses, wiring, and all, don't put the driver's mount on until after the motor is in place.
Top:
It might be easier if you angle the motor in with the tranny side sitting lower than the engine, with all the mounts attached except for front lower tranny mount and a/c mount. Sometimes it's easier to leave the alternator and crank pulley off during this process, but everything else can be attached.
Remove the throttle body on both top and bottom to avoid breaking the TPS on your fuel filter while guiding the motor in place.
Thanks in advance.

Find an OBD0 MPFI ECU and wiring harness, the harness isn't a direct plug in as one harness will have a square plug and the other will have a round plug, do a search on here to find out which wire goes where.
After you've figured out the wiring, you need to wire the VTEC to either an RPM activated switch or a WOT switch, or some other type of switch. An alternative would be to do an OBD1 conversion and run a p28, but a switch is much easier.
