quick q, reaction time doesn't affect final ET right?
if u stage deep too deep u will redlight right? if u stage deep tho, the clock only starts when u trip the light right? even if u don't take off the car still rolls to trip it..
anyone else?

Supposedly, the deeper you stage (further from the timing light), the more time you have to accelerate before actually tripping the timing light.
Altho, we are only talking about a few inches, maybe a foot at most of difference in length.

i guess what im saying is, u can wait there ALLL day, but then finally take off..and ur just gunna have like a 10second reaction, but ur ET doesn't change..

the e/t clock starts timing when the light turnsgreen, not when you cross the start line. the only time that the r/t will not affect your final e/t is when you have a perfect r/t of .500 sec. that (.500 sec) is the amount of time it takes for the last yellow to turn green . or for pro light for the 3 yellow to change to green. so if you have a r/t of 3 whole sec, it means that it took you 3 sec to start moving after the last yellow turned off. so to have your best run and shortest reaction time it is recomended to leave before the light turns green. i leave when the last yellow is at its brightest. and check out the signature.
for some reason i don't agree...maybe i am missing something..
but i have seen some supra guys stand at the line and just try to get a good launch and have still run 9second quarters

well then they probably had like 7 second supras or maybe it is different where you are from but in any NHRA, IDRC, NOPI sanctioned event that is how it works. but if you dont believe me then race at a track and sit at the line for 15 sec and then see what e/t you get.
I goto the same track that mike does
Brent Rau held at the line for like 4 seconds after green and he still pulled a 9.76 or something

ok, i have been corrected by my team mate it seems i am mistaken. i appologize for my incorrect info. but it still seems like it should matter. on all my time slips the lower my r/t the lower my e/t. that is my experience. peace

yeah there are two seperate timers i guess you would say and one measures ET one measure RT. when your at the light there are many beams, the beams that trigger the staging lights then the "breakout beam" when you hit that last beam that starts the timer for your ET until you finish, so actually if you sit at the light and dont move at all the timer for your ET will never be triggered. I guess its used mostly for pros to see where they can improve their ability to get to the finish line first, whereas brackets, its mostly for making closer to your "dial-in"

et has nothing to do with final time for TEST AND TUNE
you can sit at the tree for 20 seconds and still make a 12 second pass if you have a 12 second car.
it only matters for bracket racing and professional events.

u mean RT has nothing to do with final time?
i have seen races where someone ran a quicker time (in pros), but lost because their RT was worse
thanks guys (*JDM Brian guy!
