Default quick help

my girls 94 civic lx auto (no mods at all) was going down the highway at 80 mph, after letting the accelerator go there was a grinding noise (for a second) comming from the engine compartment. Nothing is hanging or lose in the engine bay and i can't figure out what would cause this. Any answers????/ Could this be a sign of a bad tranny?

all help appreciated.
