Default question/opinions

Ive done some searching, but I want to be sure I have all that I need before the conversion and to see if its even worth doing.
99 civ d16y8.. I am wanting to turbocharge it eventually.
should I convert to odb1?
and what all am I going to need besides pin outs and a new ecu?
I am also wanting to use the moates ostrich on this, anyone have experience?
