Default Question about AEM fuel rail

The aem website says that the fuel rail will accept either an6 or an8 fittings.. Which is it.. I dont think that both an6 and an8 fittings will go into the fuel rail..

Also I see aeroquip sells fitting for teflon steel braided hose.. Will these same fitting go on to a teflon hose that isnt steel braided.. Im trying to hook up my fuel pressure regulator to the return line and the return line isnt steel braided.. Thanks

It's 9/16" x 18 threads/inch on the AEM fuel rail. That makes it -6AN threads. But....you can't use a -6AN flare directly on the end of it b/c there's no compression seat for the AN flare fitting. You have to use an AN 9/16" x 18 to -6AN flare port adapter.

Earl's part number: 985006
-this is an example of the part you need. I'm sure Goodridge and Aeroquip will have one too.

I don't know what the part numbers are for anything but the Goodridge banjos b/c they're the only ones that I've seen make them public knowledge. The other companies, like XRP, Russell, Earl's, and Aeroquip should have their own versions as well.

Goodridge 776-06-M12....decodes to: fitting type-AN size-banjo ID

The anodized aluminum banjos are really expensive, but that's all they offer that piece in. A simlar 776-04-M14 I bought once cost ~$38.

Wow.. Is there a cheaper way like threading an adapter into the hole for the factory fuel filter instead of using a banjo fitting then..

Yes. You'll need to find the right combination of fittings to convert the M12x1.00 (F) fitting to a -6AN fitting....whether it be by converting over to a pipe fitting then to -6AN, or directly to -6AN.

Then use the same -6AN port adapter I listed above on the feed end of the fuel rail. You'll lose the pulsation dampener, but the larger ID bore of the fuel rail should help with that.

Sounds like it'll fit, but the one I listed is cheaper by like $4. Maybe the one you listed already has the hose-end already integrated.

About the thread sizes and pitches...I just get used to knowing them from working with certain apps so often. If I'm unsure, I use a pitch gauge to help me figure it out.

I get most of my fittings from our local domestic shop (Extreme Performance), the Goodridge branch in Indy (specialty items), Racer Parts Wholesale (Aeroquip firesleeve and pipe-to-AN adapters), and Summit Racing (hose-ends and everything else).

If you want pricing, talk to Flamenco-t (Stan). He sells mostly Goodridge pieces. He can probably get or find what you need. He should have catalogs on hand.
