Question about 96+ tranny
Would a 96-00 EX transmission fit on my 92-95 DX motor? I fugred it would because its all D series but someone told me it might not. To be more specific its a 97 EX transmission of the D16Y8 and i want to mate it to my D15B7 motor. Please let me know. thanks

All D-series trannies are compatible with all D-series engines.

There are two types of trannies. Hydro and cable. Both will bolt to the engine, but only one will bolt to your car. What car do you have? 88-91 Civic and Crx needs cable, 92-on civic needs hydro. 97 ex tranny is hydro.
actually guys the transmissions mount up differently between the 2 chasis.
So unless the holes on the tranny are in the same spot it wont work.
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com look at the 2 different years you'll see the mounts are totally different.

i heard that you can just move over the brackets from the 92-95 tranny to the 96+ tranny and it'll bolt on fine. please someone clarify this.....if not i'll be the one to find out because i'm gonna be doing it soon.

duh.
Did he ask that? No.
d15b7racer,
Your EX tranny will fit.
Stick to your plan of using the EX tranny & don't let conflicting info get your way.
As long as you reuse your existing tranny mounts all will work w/the EX tranny.

Yeah but I told him. Is there anywhere where he states the year of his car, NO. So you just assumed he had a 92-95 because that was the year of his engine.
