Default Putting back piston problem.

Well stupid me forgot to label the 2 piston that i took out from cyl 2 and 3. Now it all mixed up and I don't really know which piston should goes back to what cyl. The rod bearing on both of them is the same color code and on one of the rod there a letter 3 with a brown line slash through it while the other just has the number 3. Would it be safe if I put it in the wrong cyl or not? Oh yes another question, how do you clean off the coolant inside the passages, because there are oil and debris in there from taking off the head? ty guys

to anwser your question if your positive the color codes are the same then they could be interchangeable. check this though, measure the rod journal and the inside dia. of the rod on both to see if they are the same. Also the numbers on the crankshaft and the rods determine what bearings you use, so check those. As far as cleaning why are thes pistons out? are you replacing the rings?? is the eninge completely torn down? if it is this blcok should be thououghly cleaned id have it done by a machine shop that can hot tank it for you.

As long as you have the right cap on the right rod, they can go into either cylinder. (as long as you go by the numbers for rod bearings)

omg thanks you guys..I was really wanting to hear those words. Ye both of the rod has the number 3 stamp on it and both are letter C on the crank. My block is still on the car right now, the only reason I took the piston out was because I had low compression and though it was the ring, but the rings on both of the piston look perfectly fine and there is no scratch or burn on the wall or piston. So yes I'm just replacing the ring. I was thinking of maybe just try to pour some clean water into the passage and then take the drain bolt out and let it run out and repeat the steps until it throughly clean. Work that work? Or is there a better method? Ty guys.
