Default put head on , now what?

so shoot me im a n00b what lol?....how do i match up the cams and TDC of the piston on a d16z6? i have the white mark on the underdrive pulley aligned w the hash mark on the block, and the piston is AT TDC, but i sent the head out for repair, and now i am not sure if its on exhaust or intake stroke or what not..how do i tell?

thanks

Corey

i mean i guess what i am asking is does it matter if its on TDC for compression stroke? and how do i tell? is TDC just TDC on the block? no matter what? the top cam sprocket just needs to line up too the head surface right?

as long as the cam sprocket faces "UP" w the hash markseven with the head surface, and the white line on the underdrive pulley is even w the timing hash at the bottom, and the rotor points in the vicinity of #1 piston. then im in time?

is that accurate? my haynes manualis not giving me a satisfactory explanation...and i am terrified of screwing something up...

to get it at TDC put all the marks on the pulleys/sprockets on the the block facing at 12'o-clock. as for the cams and not knowing wether or not it's on exhaust or intake, i need to know this too. i don't think it matters though. just align the 3/9'o-clock marks on the cam sprockets flush with the head deck with "UP" or the arrow pointing up.

hope that helps
