Default push button ignition..

heyloo..i just had a question regarding my ignition. i had my car stolen about a month ago, and they punched the ignition. someone suggested to me that instead of getting the new lock and tumbler, i should just rewire it and put a button under the dash or seat..and make a push button ignition. so i've been thinking about it, and i think i want to do that but i jsut dont knw where to start. does anyone know waht i do? like what do i fill in the ignition hole with? and how do i wire it? anyone know where i can start? thanks!

http://www.nopionline.com/ sells them. Price doesn't sound too bad... You can find it under custom interior.

hm..those dont look too bad. So if i got that, what do i fill in the hole with from my old "key" ignition. and what protections can i take against people just breaking into my car and pressing the button? and just curious if anyone knows..but what if i want to sit in the car and listen to the radio, or turn on the air conditioning without starting the car. how would i do that?

i have the ignited pushbutton in my car, u have to still use the key, u just turn it to the "on" position and then push the clutch in and then push the button and start the car. Just pushing the button wont do anything until the key is in the "on" posiition. I have pics i can email to you if you want.

Question, so you turn your key to "ON" then push the button to start. Is the "start" on the key disabled or can you start the car either with the button or the key?

the key is totally disabled w/ the button, u can turn it all you want and the car wont turn on. You have to use the key turned "ON" and then push the button to start the car.
