pulling hard!!
ok so im thinking about getting this 92 honda civic hatch and theres a problem with it pulling hard to the left when you let go of the wheel??? it does this at all times and i want to know if its an easy fix.. what are some things to look for to determine whats causing it to pull hard?
Could be as simple as a bad tire. Cross the front tires and see if it pulls right. If not, send it to a shop to check alignment. Also check your tire pressures.
Also could be a dragging front brake. Drive the car for a few minutes then stop and check the front rotor temperatures. You can get a cheap laser thermometer at harbor freight.
I am a new member so I can't start a new thread on my problem. This one seems to go along with my situation so I will just post to this and I hope someone can help me out. I have a 1990 CRX Si with a nasty allignment problem. I have done a lot of work on it myself and frankly I have hit a point where I am wondering what would be the cheapest and easiest way to fix the issue.
I started with a severe negative camber, CV joint ripping apart, shocks that bottomed out, and a pull to the right that is like no other.
I replaced the half shafts and the shocks so now I have to work on the camber/allignment issue because I run through front tires in about 2 weeks. The inside is wearing down to the wire while the outside looks like a brand new tire. I took it to an allingment shop and they said the only way they will touch it is if I buy all these parts: Adjustable Upper ball joint (camber kit), inner and outer tie rods on both sides, and then get it alligned. They quoted me $700 bucks with labor and I know I can do the work and take it to get the allignment when I am done for less $$$$.
My question is this: I have read threads where techs are saying that a camber kit is useless and the Toe is problem when it comes to pulling and tire wear. Is this something I can adjust myself? Basically, how can I stop having to buy new front tires every other week without spending a fortune on repairs? Any help would be appreciated and please no posts like "stop being cheap and take it to a shop and have a professional do it". Unlike most people I think car repair/maintenance can be done by any person handy enough to use tools. So please do not waste my time with stupid responses.
