Prothane or Energy suspension?
I can't say much as I haven't gotten the master kit from either, but I have gotten a few things from Energy suspension (I.E. rear control arm kit). I had to contact them about some advirtising issues with their product, and they were really good to work with. I do know that the prothane were cheaper last I looked, but I was pretty happy with the way the people at ES dealt with me.

For motor mount bushings i prefer Prothanes.... They both will work but Prothane is a bit stiffer.. If you are really trying to stop wheel hop i would just go with a traction bar then you really don't even need inserts... The Energy's work i just don't like them as much because they aren't quite as stiff.. The Prothanes do vibrate the car more (especially the rear), but if it's gonna vibrate then why not just go with the stiffer ones.
I have only the energy engine mount bushings in my car and plan to get the rest of the energy suspension kit but i hear that the prothane bushings are a bit stiffer,i believe the prothane kit is a bit more expensive though.
I have no experience with Prothane but I installed a full kit when I used to have a crx. I was impressed and immediately noticed the difference. I really dont think that the difference in stiffness will be noticable or benefitial between the ES and Prothane, I would just choose the cheaper of the two.
I have Energy Suspension on every bushing on my car. I have nothing bad to say about them. Only be prepared for a sharp decrease in ride quality. Also if you use the motor mounts and have a new cam. Be prepared for the increased vibration. Before my cam clears out my steering wheel vibrates badly. And as P said use lots of graphite, or it will squeak like Farris Bueler on the clarinet.
Really there isn't that much a difference in price....... I can't really find Prothanes anymore from anywhere besides JC Whitney... The shop that I go through lost the part number for them so they can't get them anymore... For an EK off JCW they run like $35 + shipping, and the DC/EG kit is like $55 plus shipping.. Energy's are about that same range but the kit is different... Prothanes come with the driverside and tranny side upper mounts along with the rear.. Energy's come a little different with the rear and the two lowers.. Why they do this i do not know.. Prothane for me tho.....

Yeah, I got the prothane on my Accord, and they are quite stiff, and give a way better road feel, though not too many bad vibrations, I expected more vibrations, but pleased by the compromise. I don't know about the availability issue in the US, but I had a hell of a hard time getting them up here in Mtl
do you need to use any graphite grease when installing just the motor mount inserts?.

I did not and they do not squeek. In fact, the instructions with the motor mount inserts tells you to make sure the surface of the existing mount is clean and free of dirt and grease. Unlike the rest of the bushings, they're Poly on rubber, not Poly on metal, so there is nothing to go "squeek".
