is proportioning valve and brake booster really needed for rear disk conversion?
i have a 98 civic hatch dx and im about to convert the brake system to a dc2 brake setup. i already have the whole front hub and the rear trailing arm, do i really need to change the proportiong valve and brake booster? and will the 99-00 si parts work? i would really appreciate the help
when i changed the prop valve i noticed a huge difference. with the civic one i had to pump the pedal a bit to have a firm pedal. with the teg one it has alot better responce. reason is cause disc need alot more fluid.
if anything you want to upgrade the master cylinder and booster. Si coupe parts will work on your car as will 94-01 integra mc/booster. I suggest a 1" mc. The boosters are all the same between integra and Si coupe.
the prop valve is good to upgrade too when going full disc brakes but its not as noticeable as the mc/booster upgrade. The pedal sensitivity is greatly enhanced with the mc/booster....

sounds good man. thanks for the advice. i'll head out right now to pickup the mc and booster. i'll try to finish it today. i'll try to post some pics for the finish product
dude. befor changing the mc you better off doing the prop valve. no matter how much of a big mc you have the rear brakes still wont get the right amount of fluid, compare to the front ones.

Dunno how long you've been into Honda's, but it really doesn't matter which you do first...
Having both prop valve and MC+Booster is good to have nonetheless.

That's true. might as well do all of them at once.

you will notice a significant difference with prop. valve or m/c-booster but not changing the prop. valve will keep the rear calipers from actuating the way they are supposed to. stick with your plan and go with all of it. the prop. valve for rear drum will only allow a minimal amount of fluid to the rear cause drums have the cylinder that only uses maybe a fifth of the fluid the caliper uses therefor using the prop. valve for drums will suck!!! good luck
