Default Problem with Underdrive Pulley (Help!!)

I'm try to take my underdrive pulley off, but the ******* nut won't budge. The engine is out of the car on a stand. I'm using a large breaker bar and using all my force and it still won't move. Am I doing something wrong? The threads are normal right? Any feed back would be much appreciated.

Add a metal pipe to the breaker bar to add some more leverage. Last time I used a four foot handle from my floor jack; it yielded only when I was ready to give up.
Otherwise, take it to a shop with powerful air gun.

yup they are bitches to get off!!!! spray it with a little WD-40 let it sit then try it again. get yourself more leverage and it should break loose. Once you get it off you may need a pulley puller to get it off, i know i did.

How are you keeping the crank from turning?

It's a real bitch when it's on the stand. It takes a TON of force to break it loose, so much so that I couldn't keep the stand on the floor when I applied any force. I ended up having to buy the pulley holder and a 2nd breaker bar. I've got photos of the setup that ultimately got the job done. Let me know if you want me to post and I'll dig them up.

sorry man, I couldn't find that pic, but I'll try and describe the best I can.

You're going to need this tool:

I got mine from Toolwarehouse.net for like $35. Put a breaker bar on it, then slide a 6 foot pipe over it. Let this pipe rest on the ground.

Now get your 19mm socket, 2nd breaker bar and 2nd pipe and go to town on the crank bolt. The pulley tool will stop the motor from turning and the mechanical advantage you get from using the pipe on it will prevent the motor stand from wanting to flip over.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But it would seem intuitive that to loosen the nut, turn it in the opposite direction of what the pulley usually turns. Because if they were threaded the same, it would come undone, while underoperation.

Thanks for the picture, it was very helpful. Ya you can't turn it like you say because the whole damn things spins.

easy way? This is for removal only. borrow a 3/4" impact, and a 3/4" impact socket, maybe a short 3/4" extention. Use about 90psi in the compressor, should take any crank pully bolt out w/o any trouble. This worked on an accord that we broke 2 1/2" 19mm sockets and 1 1/2" extension. We had a crank pulley holder too, and a 6 ft cheater pipe, just kept breaking parts. For reinstallation, use the crank pulley holder and torque to spec.

Oh yeah, it is a standard thread bolt, righty tighty, lefty loosey.

I used the four foot bar off of a jack w/ a breaker bar and that worked great. One turn on the bar and thing came loose. I just need some better torque on it.
