Default Problem with the tensioner. Please Help!

So I'm doing a bunch of maintence on my car lately. I'm changing all the belts, fixing the AC, putting the stock cams back on, and hopefully getting an OEM clutch back in her.

Anyways, so for the last few days I've been working on the cams and belts. I've got the stock cams back in, they're all timed correctly, but I'm having trouble getting enough slack in the timing belt to get it back over the cam-gears. I spent almost 45 minutes today trying to figure out what was wrong with my tensioner without having to take off the crank-pulley. The tensioner is spring loaded and should give me slack as soon as it becomes easy to loosen the bolt. The problem is, I can turn on that 14mm bolt until I'm blue in the face, but I haven't gotten any more slack at all. I've pulled on the belt moderately hard to see if it was caught on anything, but I get nothing.

This is really starting to **** me off. I really need my car back tomorrow.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks a bunch.

Do you think that you may have stripped it? I would take off the cover and poke around to see if something dropped in there while you were performing the maintenance.

I dont know if im understanding you correctly...
It sounds like youre loosening the tensioner and expecting the tensioner to take up the slack...I may sound stupid but you need to move the slack over to the tensioner so it can take it up.......you need to loosen the tensioner tighten the tensioner move the slack over to the tensioner loosen and then retighten the tensioner.........hope that helped, if not explain better maybe i or someone else could help.
