Default problem with JDM ITR motor. help.

92 civic sedan w/jdm ITR 98'
guy who did the swap says he used the ITR engine harness, and there are like 5 wires that were 'rigged' to work.

ok heres the story:
doingsome work for a friends car, (radiator and IM gasket port match)
radiator goes smoothly, put the intake mani back on, and plug up hook up everything properly(checked helms later).
car starts the second turn of the key, and runs for 30 seconds, then just dies, not in a loud way just like you turn off the car.
try all sorts of things
(i wouldnt consider myself incompetant, since ive been working on Hondas for 3 years now, but i cannot get this thing to start for the life of me.)
getting fuel(can smell it out of the exhaust)
getting air obviously
but no spark(checked by the screwdriver in the plug wire method)
there are a few extra plugs all around the engine bay, which is normal for swaps etc, but i didnt touch any of them.
I also tried my stock P28, he's running an R ecu with converter harness, and no dice.

any ideas?

sorry so long. thanks
