Your engine might have gone into a "limp mode." Limp mode prevents your car from detonation and it only happens when the engine senses an error in the engine. Does your check engine light come on? My car went into limp mode because my vtec solenoid jammed and there was a vacuum leak in my intake manifold. Does your car sound like ****? My car did when it went into limp mode. My car didn't go past 5,000 rpm also. Go to a professional for help before its too late.

... and try posting something along the lines of "problem: GSR will not rev past 5k RPM" and maybe you will get more responses.
