When i am ideling, my rpm goes between 400 and 800 making the car feel like it;s about to stall... what could the problem be?

ignition, spark plugs, tranny (auto btw)?

also, my gas miliage isn't so great... fuel injectors?

Im having the same problems on the same car, idle gets really low... then jumps up. I have bad start ups as in when starting the car, it sounds really bad and the oil light blinks 1.5 times after start... I have 75k miles.
So, this wed. and thurs. I plan on replacing the plugs and wires, then valve adj...
Its been a long time since ive changed out the Fuel Filter.
Im also looking at changing the Rail and Injectors next month.
Im also running an Auto tranny.

changed Plugs, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter (about that later), installed crankshaft breather.

The idle fluctuation has improved, but not disappeared altogether. I still need to check my timing and do a valve adjustment, but much better than before.

The day of changing my Fuel Filter: It was around 3:00 yesterday and my car was sounding terrible when starting... lots of knocking and hesitiation..Then I remembered that I haven't changed the filter in 3 years!!!! on top of that, the main fuel line that goes up into the filter had been kinked while moving it around a while back, this is obviously blocking the amount of fuel being delivered into the filter... so with both of these variables, my car was not getting enough fuel!!!! THe kink is still there, but my car is driving 200% better now.

I also added half a bottle of fuel system treatment.
