Pre 97 and 98+ Master Cylinder interchangeable?

Pre 97 and 98+ Master Cylinder interchangeable?
I have a 94 GSR, and bought an ITR brake MC. When I went to install, I noticed the mounting points on the brake booster don't match. The same length, but the new is horizontal and the old at an angle. It got dark before I was able to figure out what to do, but, can I turn the booster clockwise so the mounting points are horizontal? TIA for any help!!
