Default power steering problems

Hey I just hooked up a B-series PS pump and it is making mean noises when sitting stationary and turning wheels. I haven't heard the noise while driving, but the engine noise probably over shadows it. There are also tons of bubbles in the fluid. Any ideas of how to fix this? Could I use my old D-series pump with the B-series brackets? Thanks for any info.

Sounds like the pump is toast. You cant fit the D series on there but a rebuilt B series one isn't too expensive.

Do you know if I could just by a rebuild kit, how much would that be? Does the d-series pump bolt right up to the B-series brackets?
Thanks

What did you do to modify your D-series pump?

The lower part of the pump had to be cut where it bolts to the lower bracket in order to make the pump match up with the top and bottom brackets. Last week I removed the whole power steering system in favor of a manual rack and pinion. Actually selling the whole system : https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=409993

Before you do anything rash, how long has it been since you changed out the pump? The air bubbles are typically trapped air that is entrained in the power sterring fluid. After a period of time the air should be purged and the noise should go away. Did you use approved honda power steering fluid? I have been old that it makes a difference. Give it a day or two before changing the pump.

Ok I just put the pump in last Sunday, and I have only driven it twice since. I used Honda PS fluid. I will wait and see what it does. Thanks.

It should work fine. The mounting bracket would be the only thing different.
