Default power delivery sucks!

I recently swapped in some Crower 404's with the dual valvesprings and tri-nitrided titanium retainers in my 93 LS. I have literally every bolt-on there is, and now the car is bogging when I shift and stutters when the RPM's are low (2.5k or so). I spent quite a bit of money on the head and was orignally getting a code 3 (map) but got that taken care of. The idle is fine but lumpy or course. It doesnt really feel that much faster than my bolt-on LS did, though. Im worried and would like to know of some common problems with LS cams and bogging before I go get this thing dyno'd. Im worried al this dough I just shelled out is in vain!

What could be wrong?

Maybe it needs the tuning? Hopefully it is working much better once you get it to the dyno and tuned. What is your fuel delivery setup? Maybe someone could give you some ideas based on that. Sorry I was not much help, good luck.

If it stutters or hesitates at 2.5k and below then its your timing, its probably jumped and is now retarded. If it simply lacks power it could just be how the cam profile is, high end with now low end.

well, i know its not the cam profiles, these cams make power to 8k+ and almost everywhere in the midrange...the only reason i got these cams. Maybe it did jump a tooth....hmm.

Symptoms -mash the throttle and have a 3 second or so of sputtering and NOT accelerating. almost like its searching for a gear (for those of you with autos...yes mines a manual, but you know the feeling, right?)

have enough fuel pressure? sounds like it may be starving for fuel when you first hit that throttle......?

how about the ignition system? missfiing? plug and wires are in good condition?

are you running any fuel managment? custom chip or apexi S-AFC?

plugs/wires are new. fuel pressure seems OK, plus the symptoms dont match those of fuel starving. Its more of a bog...almost as if its WAY off timing. How can I check the timing and make sure its TDC?

Mine was rough like that too when I first got my 403's and Crower valve springs installed. It got better as the valve springs got broken in. Check your timing belt tension also, I had mine tightened and it took some of lope out of the idle. My car close to stock now.

Those 404s are even more aggresive than mine.....with the non-vtec thats the price you pay for better performance in the higher rpms.

I know im going to have to live with lope, thats no problem. The fact that it stubles upon acceleration IS a problem. Yes, I understand that im running cams that arent made to idle, but this isnt just a side effect of powerband relocation due to cams, this is major stumbling on acceleration.....more precisly at part throttle after any shift.
