Potential of 1st gen 'teg motor?
Just wondering what it would take to get 130-140hp @crank out of the DOHC 1.6 engine from of a first generation Integra? Stock specs are about 118hp and 103ft-lbs...would CAI/header/exhaust and maybe slightly higher comp pistons do the job? Maybe with a mild intake cam as well? Just let me know what you all think...
Thanks
btw, is the motor I'm speaking of reffered to as the 'ZC' motor, or is that a completely different engine? (I'm new to the Honda scene...I only know Toyotas and European cars)
Thanks

zc motor is the jdm version of the motor ur talking about... zc has about 130hp. aftermarket for the motors are not very strong but you can find parts if you really have ur heart set on that motor
ok, cool...so since the zc is just the JDM variation, then that basically means higher comp and appropriately more aggressive cams and ECU tuning...alrighty...
Thanks for the clarification realfasthonda!
I'm not really lookin' at the motor for any sort of real performance...I just want a little bit peppy-er motor for the first gen CRX I'll be getting as a daily driver. Having my track car (Corolla AE86) double as daily driver ain't quite working out
Thanks for your help!
btw, if anyone knows, what are some aftermarket companies that support the zc/integ motor?

Well, I dunno about boosting...this is just to be a daily driver...
But thanks for the info...still something to keep in mind for the future I guess
yeah...150+hp in a little 1900lb daily racer...lol
Even though a turbo kit may only cost seven hundred or so bucks, there needs to be at least another few hundred into proper managment equipment and other such precautions...so I still think it'd quite a bit more than what an intake/exhaust and mild cam setup would cost...

To get 140HP from your D16 will take quite a bit.......higher compression for sure, BIG cams, Porting, but by that time you might as well get the GUDE head kit.....comes with PPHead, throttle body, PPManifold, Big Cams........of course id rebuild it with fresh pistons............
