Default Is it possible for Vtec solenoid to be bad?

I am doing a z6 head swap...the head i was going to use had to get machined out,it was warped way beyond spec.
I plan on using the solenoid that came off of the bad head, is it possible for it to be bad.
I did clean it out with carb cleaner. thanks

Solenoids can go bad. The manual has a test to check if its working right. I cant remember off the top of my head whether its the resistance or the voltage across it that has to be measured.
