Default Please help - spring related issue?

I've been told that to lower the car by putting springs on the stock suspension will damage the suspension due to the constant compression of the shock. Is that ture? and if so, in terms of performance, is it better off to stick with stock springs then?

thanks,
CS

The shock is not compressed it is valved therefore - NO

It does not matter where the piston is in the shock, go slam your car now, dont forget about adjusting for camber and toe depending on you suspension

As was answered, no, a lower overall suspension position overall will not damage the damper, unless you go so low that you overtravel the piston... and I don't know if that's possible.

However, keep in mind that if you put stiffer springs on, you may need firmer dampers as well. Stiffer springs store more energy, and require more damping for the same amount of control that was previously provided while stock.
