Default please define lean fuel mixture.

Lean refers to the ratio of fuel to air in your mixture. Stoichometric mixture is actually 14.7:1, but you really want to be richer than that for wide open throttle. Street turbo cars should be more like 13.2:1 and all motor cars can be a little leaner. Lean means that you don't have enough fuel in your mixture, which raises EGTs, produces detonation, and potentially burns valves, and kills rings and pistons.

The mix that makes most power is 12.5:1. I wrote a bunch on it at http://www.sficc.net if you just click on the article on air/fuel ratio.
