Default Piston slap at startup?

I just built me up a lil single slammer. Im running a D16Z6 block, a Y8 head, and ZC pistons. Compression is around 13:1.

Im running this motor just to hold me over while I build my LSV. Im OBD0 running PR3 B16 maps with all kids of fuel added and removed. Motor runs strong. My question is....everytime I start the car is sounds like piston slap. Like the skirts hittin the cylinder wall. Now, Im pretty sure this is not what the sound is, just relating to what it kinda sounds like.

Detonation? Preignition? Only at startup I hear it. I have no idea.....I took timing out from 1300 and under, added fuel...tried everything. I have no idea on what it could be or on how to fix it. I thought since it was such a high compression that it needed some timing taken out at startup....but I tried that and it still makes the noise.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Matt

What is the piston to wall clearance? Does it only do it when starting the engine cold? Go away as the engine warms up?

Hmm, not sure on the clearence. I just threw this motor together while I build my LSV. It does do it when the motor is warm.

Any ideas?
