Default piston ring end gap

What is the right way to measure piston ring end gap? is there a certain spec for this? it is for an integra ls 1.8

Carefully put the ring into the cylinder and then push it in with a piston until the piston is all the way in. This will make sure the ring is perpendicular to the cylinder wall. Remove the piston and use a feeler gauge to measure the ring gap carefully without moving the ring. When you're dealing with cylinders that may be out of spec (unmachined and not new), check the ring gap at the top and bottom of the ring's travel area. Do not scratch the walls or break a ring.
