Default piston ring check,??????????????

ok guys, im about to chage the blocks over tomarrow, not workin on a budget worth S*&T so i need to know if the rings are good before i drop them in, the rest of the motor was clean when i got it, head gasket was good, manifold gasket was good, 8 valve head had typical buildup on valves but was not bad AT ALL. i wanna know if these rings are still good, a friend told me that the original car that housed this motor smoked alot, but the guy that gave it to me swore it was fine, not too many other people agree with either one too intensly( a little smoke,or wasnt oil burning) sothis is where i sit. Now thinking of the process i poureed oil into the cylinders and pulled the oil pan, the rings and pistons apparently did there job cause after about 6 hours not one drop of oil paased through the block to the panon the ground. so does this mean the rings are still in good shape. the cylinders are clean and i can still see the 60 degreeswirls from when it was honed last if it ever was, there are very very small scratches in the number one cylinder but so minor i dont think they could ever manage to damage anything (cant see from more than about 6 inches away. is this oil test i did accurate, it was advice given from an old gear head but doesnt have much knowledge of 4 cylinder motors, gimme some help guys, my buddy and i are (by hand-no hoist) swapping these blocks tomarrow
