Default Piston Question

I have a 98 Integra GSR(B18C1) and I'm changing my stock pistons for higher compression pistons. My question is, do Integra Type-R pistons fit right in without any problems? Are there other OEM pistons that fit right on that will have better performance? And last bit not least, What Compression will type-R pistons have on my motor?
Thanks in Advance

If you go with Type R piston should be direct fit. The C/R with USDM P73 in your GSR would be somewhere around 10.8:1 and JDM p73 would be somewhere around 11.3:1. I would say stick with Type R pistons, depending on what kind of tuning and gas you can get would determine USDM or JDM. Check out this link for other C/R.

CTR will take it even higher but you're starting to ask for trouble. You'd be over 12:1

If you don't have the pistons yet wait till you can have a look at the cylinder walls before deciding. If you've got any kind of imperfection that requires boring then you'll want to go with oversize pistons. I'd say stay with the ITR either USDM or JDM. I'm going with the Spoon JDM ITR pistons and flat faced valves for around 11.7:1 C/R myself.

I already have the block exposed and it's not scratched or anything around the cylinder walls, so I'm pretty much decided on the usdm ITR pistons. How much should I expect to pay. I was thinking it should cost around $400 with the rings???

Seriously, I'd consider the JDM ITR pistons. They'll put you at 11.36:1ish and they cost little or no more than USDM. If you don't you may well kick yourself later. This way if you want more later you can go with a thinner gasket or flat faced valves or both. It'll be a bunch harder to get to 12:1 with the USDM pistons, unless you're into head milling, which I consider a last resort. I got spoon balanced P73 A00s for $263 shipped with rings. If you're bold you could go with the CTR PCT pistons, but then you'll have to be even more mindfull of clearance. In order of preference, I'd take:

1) JDM ITR 11.36:1
2) P30 JDM B16A 11.6:1
3) PCT JDM B16B 12:1
4) P73 USDM ITR 10.8:1

Thanks for the tip! One last question though, I can't seem to find thinner head gaskets anywhere. Does anyone know a company that has this? or a we site or something?

Here's a good company.

http://www.inlinefour.com/

Not the best prices around(not bad either) but I've gotten excellent service from them in the past. Search for spoon or mugen...seems like they sell one or the other...or both. Be aware before you buy though that this will change your timing. Understand exactly what you're doing before you go this route.
