Default piston to cylinder wall tolerances???

over here it seems like there are some more experienced engine builders than my VW fourm so ill ask here too.......

that are exceptiable clearances???
my pistons are je 83mm(3.268")
my cylinder diamater is 3.287"(83.489mm)
the cylinder wall varies by 1 onethousand of and inch measuring in about 6 diffrent places....
so that leaves about 10.5 thousandths of and inch on any side of the piston....is this exceptiable???
i havent measured the piston in multiple places yet,but what im trying to do is re-ring a motor and hoping that these specs are gonna be exceptiable....i still need to hoan out the cylinder so i would expect that the diamater of the cylinder would increase by 1 or 2 thousandths....yes?

EDIT:
i measured the piston .5"from the bottom of the skirt and its measures 3.283"....
je's min clearance is .0028" plus .001" to .003" for FI. applications so thats a maximum of .0058"....im close to being out of exceptiable clearances but still in them.....

that is WAY to much clearance in my book. odds are if u have the rings and check the clearances of the ring gap, itll be way to big without even filing anything yet.

for a forged piston, depending on the motor and horsepower level desired, the piston to wall clearance should be anywhere from .002-.007...this is for F/I motor and obviously the more power the power clearance required

Yes, I agree those clearance are out of control. You should get 83.5 pistons and get the block bored and honed for those.
