As some people might be aware I'm in need badly of a pair of 9006 D2S bulbs, considering that a certain individual sold me some garbage D2R bulbs. I was under the impression that D2S bulbs did not have the metal rod, but while looking for bulbs on eBay I notice a lot of the bulbs do have the metal rod, but say D2S on the actual bulb. Any validity to this...post pictures if you can. Thanks...and lastly, are all of the bulb/ballast connections the same? Basically, are all bulbs universal with all ballasts?

How is this ITR related?

Just buy D2S bulbs from a reputable vendor and have no worries.

That's all there is to it.

d2r = glare shield (which sucks)

d2s = no glare shield

 

Is the glare shield the metal piece that runs along side the actual glass bulb? Here's some pics of examples: Clearly says D2S

Are you talking about the metal rod running along side the glass bulb? The bulb in the first pic has it as well, it's just behind in the glass bulb in that picture.

I have no idea, I don't own HID's but I thought I would shed some light on the situation.

 

Oops...I noticed that right after I posted the picture...I'm assuming it's a metal strip around the base of the bulb...but not sure...? Anyone?

It's too f'n huge to post here, but you get the picture. The right one is 9006 d2s bulbs. I have close up pics of the base too, if u want em, let me know.

 

Thanks for that large picture...very large picture..=P I think I know the difference now, basically the D2R bulbs have that metal band around the base of the actual glass bulb.
