Default pgmfi.org, real-time programming, uberdata

okay, so i've been reading up on modding my ECU. i don't like electronics, but i'm okay with it. i still have some questions floating around in my head, and i'm sure if i post on pgmfi.org i'll be flamed like hell, so here goes:

1) if i run RTP 1.0 board on my ECU, that eliminates the spot where you'd normally put a chip. so, if i have the board feeding a datalogger like ECU Control, i'm assuming that if i run uberdata i'll still be able to write to the SRAM chip since my computer will be plugged into it?

2) with the aforementioned setup, the SRAM chip does not NEED to be plugged into the computer to work properly, right? i mean, it is RAM, so does it get cleared when you shut the car off, therefore needing the computer every time you turn it on to give it back its setup? or will it remember, so that once tuning is complete, the computer can be removed and it will still right properly?

thanks you guys. i'm a bit green to ECU modding although i've read a lot. i just wanted to get this cleared up before i decide it's worth my time and some money to give this a chance. i think it will definitely be good if my assumptions are correct (1) yes it will write in real-time just like it would write to a a normal chip, and 2) yes it will run w/o the computer).

You need to burn the program (base map, rom, whatever you call it) to the ram chip, and then install the RTP board(sram board). Uberdata at this time i dont beleive has ANY support for real time progrmaing.

Turboedit(obd0) and Crome(obd1) have support for real time programing at this time. to my understanding when you load up the ecu you can connect via serial and then send to it a change somewhere in the memory to updatethings such as fuel maps.

Now if you unplug your ecu or lose power your fine! the ram used in the RTP V1 last up to 10 years i beleive. And everytime you fire up your ecu it resets your ecu!

Ive been tryng to geta hold of hte board : ( i dont wanna make a huge one out of radio shack supplys and a bunch of wires, any idea where to get one? josh hasnt been responding ive been tryng for over 2 weeks now
