I searched and found some information but am still unclear.

Will a P28 ECU run a B17A in stock form or does the ECU have to be chipped?

the B17a1 originally ran off of a P61 ecu. The P28 ecu will run the motor, but not well. You're best bet is to have it remapped to fit your motor, and mods.

The P28 runs a bit lean for a b-series engine, reprogramming is highly suggested, but it will run your engine regardless.
