Default Overheating problem - Help

I have a 1993 Civic EX.

My car has had some simple DIY fixes for my overheating problems. One was my hoses for instance. After that, it seemed to fix the problem. But wait, something else has gone wrong, so I took my thermistat out. Being in Florida, it shouldn't really matter, should it?

Anyways, now i'm overheating again, except it isn't everytime I turn my car on. After a few days, my water has almost completely been drained. Once I pour more water in, its fine for the next week or so. Whats wrong with it, can anyone help me?

There are no modifications on the car whatsoever. Fully stock.

If you have to keep putting water in it, sounds like you have a leak somewhere.
You should look for signs of leaking. Best thing to do it get a pressure tester.

As far as taking out the thermostat, I'd put a new one in. Even though you may think it doesn't matter, the engineers designed the cooling system with the thermostat in place. For example in our race cars, even though we don't have a thermostat in it, we put in a gutted one (kinda like a restrictor plate). The system was designed to flow with it in you see.

Sounds that if you see no visible leaks of water/anti-freeze under your car. You may have a blown headgasket.
