Default Overheating problem

Hi I wonder if anyone could be of assistance. I am from South-Africa and have a Honda 150 with a modded engine. My problem is that the temp. is fine and normal while driving normal, but as soon as you get to WOT the temp start to rise and goes into the red, if you put on the heater the temp comes down or even when jou back down from WOT. What could be the problem. Is the radiator to small (still using the standard radiator) Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Don't know much about a Honda 150 (what is that, anyway?) Couple pretty basic things to check...

Is your thermostat OK? Stuck so it won't open far enough? Tstats are cheap, try replacing it.

Is the radiator clogged with crap? How old is it & could the water flow passages be blocked with crust?

Otherwise, what's your engine mods, how much extra power? The more power you make, that's how much extra cooling you need. Maybe an oversized radiator would make sense.

Thanks for the reply. The Honda 150, is a 1500 honda here known as the ballade but in the US as the civic. Its an 1986 Honda with an imported engine from Japan. Its carb fed and has a weber 36DCD carb on, the head has been skimmed by 1mm, the cam was reprofile (dont know how much degrees) and the intake was flowed. A custom air intake was made and a set of headers and a 50mm freeflow exhaust was fitted.

Have already check the Tstat and has taken it out as well, the problem still persist. I think it could be the radiator thats too small, its been in the car for 17 years, its was cleaned before the new engine. Haven't got any dyno figures as it has been on a dyno yet.

I would imagine the radiator is the problem...it can handle the heat of an engine under totally normal conditions...but when you throw a little more heat at it, it is more than it can handle. I would recommend checking your thermostat at the same time just to make sure everything is good.
