overheating / missfire
Hello Everyone,
I have recently noticed two issues that seem to have the same root, but I am not sure. I have a Turbo B18B1 with a rebuilt block and stock Head. I have a cometic head gasket and arp head studs.
My problem:
Recently after some WOT pulls I noticed my car was overheating when idling. I thought it could be the thermostate or radiator cap, so I replaced them both as they were both fairly old. now ive also had some missfiring issues and noticed my spark plug in cylinder 1 was caked with what looked like carbon (looked like chunks of mudd). The top of the piston was cleaned for the most part as i could see the silver color. So this all led me to believe the head gasket was leaking. However, after performing a compression test, I determined that my compression was fine.
Now is it possible that my compression can still look good but have a leaky head gasket a WOT?
Can the piston be cleaned from anything other than leaking coolant; like too much fuel from a faulty injector?
any help is appreciated.

Overheats @ idle?? Did you check your radiator overflow tank for carbon gunk? And yes its possible to have good compression if HG leaks.
Heat may possibly caouse intake temps to be higher than normal making your cyl chamber too hot causing premature ignition?
