Default Over Heating...anyone know why

k heres the deal.....when i drive on the freeway for more then 30 mins and come to a stop my car starts to overheat and burn coolant really fast.....when i drive around normaly though it doesnt overheat or burn coolant.....this just started happening to me...the motor has about 6500 miles on it....first thing i though is that it might be a blown head gasket....so i did a leak down and compression check
0% at 34psi in all 4 Cyl
265 compression in all 4 Cyl

if i were to have a blown head gasket i think the leak down would tell me...... does anyone know why... thanks guys

you need to do the leakdown at 100psi and make sure the engine is already warm

does your radiator fan turn on?

it probally is a head gasket. after driving a while the engine gets hot enough to expand and then burns coolant. the leak down test and compresion may not show it until it is at those temps and pressures.or it may not show it at all.but either way youll proball be taking te head back off. good luck.

I had the same problem as you did, when i first originally did my swap. I drive it be okay, then i stop, the temp needle would soar, i was like wtf. I swaped out the thermostat, put in the jackson racing 160 degree thermostat,....still did it. Put redline wetter water additive still did it. I bleed the coolant system of any air, just to make sure still over heated. Then i realize that the integra radiator core is twice the size of my stock dx one. But I had A/C, and I didnt want to get rid of that for obvious reason. So my last try was to wire the radiator fan to a toggle switch on my dash so I could leave it on all the time when i drive. Not only did that car stop over heating, but the temp gauge reads lower a tad all the time. Its now a year and half later, and the car doesnt over heat...even in 129 degree heat index florida summer weather...hope this help a bit before you decide on going switch head gaskets and all that nasty stuff
