Opinions wanted...
Ok, I'm planning on starting up a project car, and I'm kinda starting from scratch just because it's more fun that way. My goal is to have a very quick, turbocharged car that I can have some fun with on the weekends. While I don't intend on it being fully street legal, I would like to keep it as close as possible....as it won't be a completely illegal drag car. Now, in order to save myself some time and money, I could use some expert advise, tips, and info........which is why I turn to the fine people here at Honda-Tech.
I know that people here know their **** when it comes to B16s and B18s........which is the type of motor that I would like to start with. Now, just incase you're wondering, I know a good bit about motors, turbo, SC, etc. I've helped with a few turbo installs, and torn a few engines apart. I'm just trying to further educate and prepare myself before diving into this. Now.....
*First off, I've pretty much decided on a B18C5, but I'm just wondering what the big difference is between the B16 and B18.
*Second thing is the head. I know that you can mix certain heads with certain blocks. Would I be better off building up the head on my B18, or going with a different head.....and if so, which one?
*Third, we have the decision to turbocharge or supercharge. What would you recommend considering that this car won't be a daily driver, and turbo lag doesn't really bother me.
*Last question for you is, what kind of car should I put this motor in? I was thinking somewhere along the lines of an earlier gen hatch. What's the easiest car to swap a B18 into? And what would you recommend?
I guess, in the end I'm just wondering what you'd put together if you ever took the time to dream something up. (which I'm sure most of you have) These are just a few of the many questions that I have, but I'll go do some searching before I ask any more. Sorry for the long post, and I hope you're willing to help a brotha out. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd

iono if your really serious about this but ill give it a shot....
B18C5 is a good choice but kinda expensive...
best thing to do (with lowest price) is buy a full LS setup (full engine, trans, ecu)
sleeve (RS Machine or Golden Eagle) bore to 84~86mm with JG pistons (9:1 cr)with crower or eagle rods and built the right way...

Starting big helps.
B18
I would use a B18C1 (GSR) Less compression = more boost
The big diff betweena B16 and B18 is .2 liters or 200 CC's!
B18C1 stock head. Port and Polish from portflow and stupid *** turbo cams. http://www.crower.com
1988 CRX HF = 1700 lbs stock....imagine stripped.

Since you want turbo, don't go with the B18C5. Its way more money to start off with, its got a high compression ratio, and its got really agressive cams which aren't very well matched for turbo. For the engine, go with the B18C1 or the B16A.
