Default Opinions on SPRINGS

I'm changing out my current springs that are too low for me personally for a daily driven car in the city. I already got my tokico hp's but the springs i'm thinking about getting are the following;

H&R (sport/race)
Tein
Eibach (sportline/prokit)
Nuespeed
vogtland

They are all around the same price range and i'm looking for the best quality.
I don't know if the pro-kit or sport from h&r are enough drop opposed to the race/sportlines but I don't want my struts bottoming out because I drive on some pretty shitty city roads.

Right now i'm leaning towards h&r race but if anyone has tried a number of these give me your opinion.

I basically still want a decent ride and don't want to be hitting the bumpstops. Considering I have plans in the future when my debt is paid down to do a b-series swap. I don't know how much the springs will sag in the front from the increase of weight, but all of these things i'm taking into consideration.

</TD></TR></TABLE> I have owned or used all of the springs you have listed.
Prokits on my EG were comfortable, and cornered good. Sportlines were too low for my liking on my GTI, The car bottomed out frequently.

Vogtland, are designed for heavy payloads in the trunk. My pals SRT has em, the car feels really unbalanced.

Neuspeed, Regardless of Sport or Race they'll end up sagging like a 90 year old woman.

Tein, Great ride, cornering excellence, but you do pay for it. And oh so worth the xtra $$$

H&R Race, Stiff & Low but cornering is awesome.
Sports, I run these springs now with Tokico Blues on a EF. A cheap but VERY EFFECTIVE SETUP on my daily driver. Idd go with these as they are well ballanced predictable & are a great combination of performance and comfort. All for the reasonable price of $140 You be a fool to look elsewhere. BTW the drop on em is about 1.75mm, or 1&1/2 finger gap. http://www.inlinefour.com

ok, the tein s-tech springs are like the same as the the h&r's. When you say like a finger gap with your sports...is that with your stock 13's? Also how were the h&r race as far as hitting bumps? They hit the bump stops a lot or strut bottom out?
Did you use your dust covers?

They won't bottom out, but any ripples or imperfections in the road surface will make you think that you may loose your dental work & fawk your ride up badly. On track days they are great. But for the daily grind no thanks.

I'm leaning toward h&r sports or tein s-tech.
Just can't decide between the two!
Also, should I order some dust covers from tokico cuz I don't think the stock metal ones work with a dropped car. I've been riding around on tokico blues with no dust covers for months but I dont want them to blow from dirt and crap gettin into the strut.

Id get the dust covers. I live in California and still run em. Cheap insurance. Im not trying to pull ya either way but honestly the H&R's are a little more comfy.

Where should I get the dust covers from?
When first dropped my car awhile ago on my stock shocks, they had these metal dust covers...and when i let the car off the jacks, it would not drop. It just sat on the factory metal dust covers and so I had to take them off. When I got my tokico hp's and installed them I had nothing to cover the strut rods to prevent dust getting in them. So where should I buy them from, tokico or just go to a honda parts dealer and ask for dust covers? BTW I have a 94 civic hatch cx.

Also on another site everyone is saying go with neuspeed and they love them! You say they sag though....

If your not having problems then don't add covers. As for springs, go to a few shops that stock both brands. Then you will get honest and unbiased opinions about the characteristics of each spring. All I know is what ive experienced & what most of my pals run. If there not running some crazy high $$$ threaded exotic dampener setup on their track cars. The majority will run these springs on their daily cars. The shock preference varies, but we all agree on the H&R's for ride quality and longevity. Neuspeed makes great suspension components. But it's my opinion that H&R displace better quality, and it doesn't lessen over time. But you ultimately make the decision of what is best for your situation & driving style. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by HatchSpeeD &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

It's basically been down to tein s-tech and h&r sports. I'm only thinking of the tein more because I like the even drop it gives over the h&r sport from pictures i've seen. It seems like on sports, its lowered nicely in the front but the back has a huge friggen gap. You say you actually owned tein s-tech springs? If so give me some feedback on them for I don't believe you mentioned them except for saying if you can afford them. (they are actually cheaper in price than the h&r) I gotta make my decision real soon...tein/h&r h&r/tein.....ahhh wish i got more feedback...seems like tein s-tech is fairly newer than other brands though.

Misunderstanding, haven't owned S-Tech But have driven with em. They are sweet if they fab em for your car. Haven't checked to see what your gonna put them on. They don't make the car sit as low as the H&R's did for me. Their medium rate spring is what i played with. I dug on em immensely. But for $70 bones less and the ability to have my car rotate slightly easier, H&R's serve the purpose superbly. That 1/4th inch higher in the rear is provided for a legitimate reason. Launches and creating very slight over-steer. Me likes that!
