Default OK to use Gunk on pistons?

EDIT: Nevermind...all cleaned up.

Is it OK to let the pistons soak in gunk overnight? What's the best way to clean the top?

Also, do I have to clean inside the ringlands? Tthe inner-most part where the rings sit.

depends on what you are doing. when i put in used pistons I use a old ring i broke in half and grinded to a point. it fits perfectly in the slots and scrapes that crap off. use some carb cleaner. Its really reccomended to clean them if you are ballencing them.
