Default Which oil to use??

Ok I need to know what oil to use for my break in? My motor is getting rebuilt and should I use Honda's 5w 30 for break in or use something else, for the first 1K miles of rebirth.... I know after 1K mark to give it a oil change and adj. the valves and switch over to 5w 30 Mobil 1 syn.

For just 1K miles, I wouldn't spend too much on oil. For break-in, I changed my oil after 500 miles and went to Mobil 1 synthetic 10W-30. HTH.

I think you'll find that the jury is still out -- you'll get knowlegable techs telling you to (1) do just what you mentioned, (2) start with Mobil 1 from the git go, (3) don't bother with Mobil 1 at all, just stick with the "regular" oils since they all use synthetics in their blends anyway, and (4) all kinds of combinations, permutations, and departures from 1-3.

They all have good arguments and supporting data. Some use the same data to reach different conclusions. It really IS confusing.

My personal advice is to do just what you suggested. But, like I said, others will probably have different ideas.

Ask 10 different people, and you'll get 10 different answers.

The majority seem to like to run non-synthetic to start with, but noone seems to agree on how long to run it before changing. I've heard anywhere from 500miles to 7-8k.

Good call. You can't find a perfect answer, there isn't one. However I do lean towards conventional oil during break in period, the "sluge" that builds-up can protect. And of course drive like your grandma for at least 2,500 miles.
