Well, its all opinions, but IMHO the oil squirters are not neccisary. They are installed in the factory DOHC VTEC motors, but they are not critical to the motor's revving ability. They help cool the pistons, but forged pistons can handle much higher thermal loads anyway.
As for LS/VTECs blowing, this is often due to improper construction. An LS crank must be balanced to operate at 8000rpm, much less 8600 or 9000rpm. The vibrations will rip apart the motor. Additionally, the correct oil and water pumps are often not used, and the heavier internals suffer at high velocities. None of the LS/VTEC explosions I've seen or even heard about had ANYTHING to do with thermal loads in the pistons.

Oh yeah, and as for longevity of drag motors... Properly built motors go for a surprisingly long time without being cracked open. The shop that built my car has an all motor drag Civic that runs 11.20s and didn't require anything but oil and plugs all season. This is on an LS block with NO OIL SQUIRTERS. The rest of the cooling system is far more important. Invest in a triple core radiator and a low temp thermostat and don't worry about bullshit oil squirters.

So you think that on a race car that that can run the kind of nubers to go 9's and 8's doesnt make heat?

I didt say that they dont make heat...But while your race care is done for the day do you take it to the shop and take it apart and look at stuff and changer bearings and change stuff that wear???While your race car is in the trailer waiting for the next big race,The person that has the daily driver is driving it around town..How about this,Hoiw many mile do you put on your race car??Ummmm maybe around 500-1000...if not then you dont have a real race car...Do you really think the real drag guys and girls keep the same motor they used that weekend and take it to another race...Hell no they take it apart and put new **** in it.....For a daily driver KEEP the Squirters.......ITs a longevity thing...

Thanks
Ross
Hey buddy...I dont think you know who your talking to. I am a pro racer and engine builder as well. I can tell you this. I went 5 races running mid to low 9's with the SAME motor and not touching a thing internaly. I am on even more races then that with the same rod and main bearings. As far as telling me I dont have a real race car, you might want to rethink that. Theres a saying....its not how many miles a car has on it, its how it was driven for those miles. There are many full race cars that go more then one race without changing parts. What I said was our race car motors take more abuse within a 1/4 mile then an average street car will take driving it day after day. I have built plenty of these type of motors to know the outcome of taking out the oil squirters.

Thanks, Mike

nicely done thanks mike but yeah so im on my way to plugg it up....so balancing the crank is a must? for the revs? 8000rpm+

thanks again everyone that gave me tips on my motor buildups...with cons/pros

I would spend the few extra bucks on the balance and micropolish. If nothing else, its eases your mind a little.

Most good machine shops should be able to do it or refer you to someone who can.

[QUOTE]Hey buddy...I dont think you know who your talking to.[QUOTE]

Ummm i Dondt really care and i dont care what you have and i dont care who you know...

How about this my Uncle is John Force...How you like them apples...

If you dont know who that is then your a nobody..........

IM KIDDING....
In my eyes you have a race car and that fine to have no oil squirters...
But for a daily driver keep them...Honda put them there because they were having problems with the pistons getting to hot..And if you put Forged pistons in then i would keep those even cooler...IF you keep the pistons cooler thats better for performance..Thats my 2 cents....

Thanks
Ross

How about this...if anyone wants this guys 2 cents...you can have it and run the oil squirters. If anyone wants a million dollars, you can go with my idea. So you think because your uncle is John Force that makes you somebody. Does that mean your whole self worth is behind someones elses accomplishments? As for me, mine are proven on my own. And get this, im a huge fan of funny cars. And I watched Johns carrer grow from the days when he was a back yard podunk racer. What does John Force have to do with plugging oil squirters anyways? Does that make you feel better to say that cause U lack with your 95% rateing? I have been doing this import race thing for years now with many tried combos and talked to fellow racers with tried combos and all of us have built plenty of motors for street cars with tested combos. I wont reply anouther time to this post cause its silly. Im not gonna get into a pissing war here and try to see who goes farther. Heres one last though for you. He cant run his block with that ls crank and rods in it cause it hits. So you must think he should just get rid of all his stuff and dont run a setup that many others have run with great success?

I was kidding about John force.....

Im not going to fight with you about oil squirters......

And i dont really give a **** about my 95%...rateing.......the moderaters can keep my other 5%.......Because it makes them feel like they are Cool......

So i guess you win.Because you know everything and you have been doing this for 3yrs....WOW........Your just one bad boy man...can you mail me an autograph......

So the person that wants to know if he should keep the oil squirters, leave them out..WHO cares if honda uses them.......
Thanks
Ross

looks like we had a bit of a pissing contest, but what it looks like is oil squirters are needed when running stock internals, because they do not get the heat away very good, but if your running forged, then everything is fine.
