Default oil pump failure

recently my oil pump took a **** and shattered into a thousand pices. was wondering if any of you guys have taken the main bearings caps off of the crank with the mototr still in the car to see if any of the bearings have been swiped. wuld it be ok to do this? the motor is a ls/vtec turbo.

once torqued down and ran, you really cant loosen them, thats just asking to spin a bearing right there

It can be done.It's not really the best way but many people have done it that way successfully.

Take the engine out.Disassemble,inspect,clean and reassemble.

you can check rod bearings with the engine in the car with ease.
as far as the mains; a little more tricky but still doable. the crank will drop down a little when main caps are off to be able to get to the top half of the bearing

supa ghetto star but yu can do it
