Oil Pressure Problem....
Okay here is a schematic of the situation.
96 civic with b16 swap, hit by mini van in front, only damage appeared to be damage to valve cover and broken cam gear on motor.
I removed the head, evertyhing appeared to be in order, replaced entire head set, everything installed correctly, dowel pins, pressure orifice in correctly, head gasket on straight, etc.
Went to start motor, once it cranked, oil pressure light was on.
Turned car off.
Took cams out, sho nuff, oil pressure orifice in the #3 cam cap had fell out, replaced with spare with good O ring. Reassembled, started car, pressure light on again.
Haven't messed with the car since.
It may have ran 30-40 seconds total like this, i'm afraid to test it more for fear bearings will start spinning.
What would you do, the oil pump was replaced about 20k ago on that motor, but it was in a totally different car, and the car was hit, etc.
Just wondering if anyone else has any bright ideas, the oil is definetly not getting to the head
****UPDATE*****
Took the cams out to make sure that the 2 pressure orifices (exhaust and intake) are still in and in correctly. and they were..
so we took the vtec selonoid off the motor and turned it over to see if oil came out, nothing happened.. (except the oozing of lucus oil before we tried to turn it over).. so we were pretty sure it was the oil pump...so i took out the old oil pump and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it.. there was oil up at the top of it where the oil goes into the motor and oil in the inlet for the oil.. we took apart the oil pump and gear in there looks brand new...
I put everything back on except the oil pan (ran out of time) so i haven't been able to see if the new oil pump makes a difference or not. although it doesn't look like the oil pump was not working so i am doubtfull of whether replacing the oil pump did anything...
what else could be the problem... if it still doesn't work whenever we get everything back on then we are going to take the head off and go from there...
ps.. the oil pickup screen was not clogged... thanks...

Why dont you take the plugs out and bump the car over until the oil pressure light goes off...that will not hurt anything as long as you have 4.25 qts of oil in it..and while you are bumping it over have the valve cover off and watch for oil coming out of the vtec rails...
And if that does work then check your oil and make sure there is 4 qts in it...

How long did you bump it over for??It take a long time to get oil pressure to the head...When you take the head off..
are you sure you got a b16a head gasket...And not an LS head gasket..
keep pumping it over count 60 sec or more...

*****FINAL UPDATE*****
finished putting everything back on today... turned the car over 3 times for 15 seconds each time... then took off the oil filter to check for oil, plenty of oil went all over me, so we took off the vtec selnoid and oil came out of it, so i turned it over with the vtec sel. off and oil spludged out. Put that back on and started the car.. everything is running fine so far (took it out twice) haven't got on it yet..
so replacing the oil pump seemed to do the trick.. i am happy so far..
