oil light comming on
i know there are a lot of threads on oil lights, but i couldnt find fimilar symtoms as mine. First of all the oil light starts to come on and flicker when the car is fully warmed up and when im under 1000 rpm, once i have revs over 1000 then it goes away. One other thing that happens is that once it goes below 700 rom it sounds like "my exhaust is loose." A couple nights ago i drove on the freeway then my car dies comming to a stop. Havent drove it since to aviod any damage that might occur.

What's your oil level at????
The oil light comes on when oil pressure drops below 3 Psi I think. It just a switch and not an actual gauge so once pressure is up then the light goes out. Usually you'll have the light on at low rpms because your oil pump can't pump enough if your oil level is too low. The dying at a stop is a bad thing too.
Either your oil level is wayyyyyy to low or your oil pump is bad. check your oil, don't drive your car, and get back to me with what you find.

oil level is perfect. I changed it at work 3 days ago, But im leaning towards a bad oil pump. Also another thing to add was that my rpms drop once my radiator fan comes on, and i can hear that "plinking sound for a second".
That's what i would suspect too. It's easy to check, go buy or borrow an oil pressure gauge. Take out your pressure switch on the back of your block, plug the gauge in and start the motor. Bingo, got pressure? If not you've got a bad oil pump. I don't know what oil pressure you should have at idle, but I would imagine around 40 lbs. should be right.
Anyone else know for sure??
Good Luck man, let us know what you find.
