Default oil leak

ok heres the deal. im 15 and dont know ****. i know how cars work blah blah but havent done any REAL work on cars. ok. (i know this is ht but this is the best place for sources ) my dad has a 1993 240 volvo. its leaking oil. we're pretty sure its the head gasket but we dont know how to install it. my dad replaced headers once but thats it. i found a few sites with directions but i dont trust them and i dont trust the fact that its the right site for our car :\. should we leave this supposedly $500 for the mobil guys or should we tackle it?(nebody live in nj lol)

You can go to the library and get the service manual for your vehicle, probably won't let you check it out so just photocopy the stuff you need.

This sounds like a lesson in let a professional take care of it, or pay the professional twice as much after you screwed with it.
